QBHS

A Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist(QBHS) is an individual who has received specialized training or education in mental health or substance use disorder competencies. This training enables them to provide essential support services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges or substance use disorders. A QBHS possesses a foundational understanding of psychiatric and substance used is order symptoms, the community behavioral health system, and related social service systems. They are skilled in therapeutic engagement, crisis response, and de-escalation techniques, and are prepared to work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver client-centered care. While they are not required to hold a professional licensure, QBHSs must demonstrate proficiency in core behavioral health competencies within 90days of hire, ensuring their ability to contribute effectively to the recovery and well-being of those they serve.
